Now that it's summer time, my yearly cravings for lemonade is in full
effect. This year, however, I've started making lemonades sweetened
with Simple Syrup. It's definitely the best way to make sweetened
drinks because the sugar is already dissolved. It's really easy to make
a simple syrup and store it in the fridge for a few weeks (if it lasts
that long).
How to make Simple Syrup:
- In a sauce pan, add 1 cup of water
- Add 1 cup of sugar
- bring to a boil and stir occasionally
- Once all sugar is dissolved, let syrup cool
The ratio is simply 1:1, so if you want to make more or less, just keep
the ratio. (i've seen some recipes using a stronger 1:2 water:sugar
ratio, but that's up to you to try out, i personally like the 1:1)
For the lemonade, i just add the syrup (probably close to 1/4 cup),
juice of one lemon, and water. easy!
The first pic is of what's left of the syrup and the second is my cup
after i just finished an excellent glass of Lemonade.
