Last night my wife went out with her friends to the movies, so I decided to cook something that my wife isn’t too keen on eating: chicken wings! (she doesn’t enjoy eating chicken off the bone).
I’ve never made chicken wings from scratch before and I wasn’t in the mood for traditional hot wings (although I did want something with a spicy kick), so I turned to Chef John’s blog, Foodwishes.com for the solution: Ginger Garlic Chicken Wings! This asian style wings are just what I wanted to try out. I was fortunate for his video since he also shows how to butcher up the wing to make the drum and flats (I didn’t realize the wings I bought were whole).
The wings turned out way better than I could have imagined, the glaze was perfect for me, spicy, sweet, and had great tang.
I was only able to snap one picture of my wings because I wasn’t going to sit around and take pictures….i wanted to eat them!
If you’re interested in creating those wings yourself, here’s the page with video and ingredients I tried. (by the way, I didn’t have Sambal chili sauce, so I used Alabama hot sauce)
