Google Wave allows you to create custom bots that can do lots of things on a wave (message thread), including translating on the fly. There was a very cool demonstration of this at the Developer Preview at Google I/O.
One of the bots is Swedish Chef, which to me is both extremely funny, but also incredibly annoying..especially with other people unleash this bot on your wave. This bot will translate your blip (message) into something that the Swedish Chef would say. Original:
Tranlation:
For those that have a google wave account, to add the bot to your wave, add borkforceone@appspot.com.Type LEAVEMEALONE in all caps, and the Swedish Chef will ignore your blip.
One woman in Chicago has found an original way to live with her disability. She is blind, and says her Muslim faith forbids the use of a guide dog. Instead, she's found a replacement -- the guide horse. (AFPTV)
I never thought I'd see this, but thanks YouTube for always proving to me that there's always something new to see: And if you don't understand the joke, please read this.(via Reddit)
A friend of mine recently shared the following video, which is a great blast from the past. I used to watch this show so many times as a kid. Recently I had the theme song in my head and I kept humming it over and over, but I couldn't, for the life of me, remember where it came from. Apparently, I must have been having some childhood memories running in my mind subconsciously.
Facebook currently uses your pictures from your photo albums in their
third-party advertisements on your friends' pages. According to
Facebook, they justify this by saying: "Facebook Ads make
advertisements more interesting and more tailored to you and your
friends."
While your pictures never actually leave the circle of your friends, I
still don't want my friends to be tricked into advertisements for
products or services that I don't personally endorse. To me, this isn't
a privacy issue, just one on principle.
So here is how you remove your pictures from your friends' ads:
1. HOVER over Settings in the upper right corner of your
Facebook page, next to your name and a drop down should appear. Click
on Privacy Settings.
2. Click on News Feed and Wall.
3. Click on the Facebook Ads tab.
4. From the drop down*, choose No one.
*I should say that for me, I had to use another browser to get
this page (Google Chrome in my case) because for some reason in Firefox
3.5.1 my Facebook Ads page was completely
blank.
This was my first attempt at making Sesame and Onion rolls. This is the usual Dinner Roll recipe I follow but just at the end, i use an egg-white wash just before putting it in the oven, and sprinkle the toppings. This was more of my proof of concept because I was pretty sure that's all I had to do.
The Rolls came out great, i'm definitely going to keep doing this from now on.
