Every day around this time it starts to get really hot in my office as a result of the sun gradually invading my workplace. My blinds are no match for the relentless sun. Would it look too tacky if I taped a car sun shade on my window?
This past week, I bought a new stringing machine so that I can string my own racquets. Here are some photos of the new machine stringing my third racquet. The machine will pay for itself after I string 9 racquets.
I’m starting to get the bug back again for baking breads, and here are my latest attempts. Last night I made some white bread from a variation of this recipe I found online. I took a couple of pictures of those.
My other attempt was actually on this past Sunday, trying to find a good French Bread recipe. This one came out really well, and at least my wife says this is definitely a repeat. I followed this recipe, with the exception of the egg wash at the end, which I forgot to do. This yielded two loaves, however my wife and I quickly ate one while the bread was still warm. The other loaf didn’t last long, as we split it to use to eat with our left over spaghetti (it was great).
I hope to try out other recipes so I can find the perfect bread that I’m so hungry for.
Last night my wife went out with her friends to the movies, so I decided to cook something that my wife isn’t too keen on eating: chicken wings! (she doesn’t enjoy eating chicken off the bone).
I’ve never made chicken wings from scratch before and I wasn’t in the mood for traditional hot wings (although I did want something with a spicy kick), so I turned to Chef John’s blog, Foodwishes.com for the solution: Ginger Garlic Chicken Wings! This asian style wings are just what I wanted to try out. I was fortunate for his video since he also shows how to butcher up the wing to make the drum and flats (I didn’t realize the wings I bought were whole).
The wings turned out way better than I could have imagined, the glaze was perfect for me, spicy, sweet, and had great tang.
I was only able to snap one picture of my wings because I wasn’t going to sit around and take pictures….i wanted to eat them!
If you’re interested in creating those wings yourself, here’s the page with video and ingredients I tried. (by the way, I didn’t have Sambal chili sauce, so I used Alabama hot sauce)
Jennifer and I spent a nice romantic evening at the Melting Pot to celebrate our 10th year (yes, I know but we decided to celebrate it a couple of weeks later).
We had White Roses and Anniversary balloons at our table to mark the occasion. The meal was really great, as well as the service.
This year Valentine's was celebrated a little bit differently, since Jennifer had to work today. Our real day to celebrate will be this Saturday where I’ll take her out for a nice dinner.
Tonight though, I cooked a fantastic dinner at home for Jennifer. I made her a Chicken Parmesan with homemade garlic bread using a homemade Garlic Aioli sauce.
I also bought her flowers, which she thoroughly enjoyed J This is our first Valentine’s as husband and wife and even though she had to work, we still got to spend some quality time together.
The pictures above, if it wasn’t obvious, are the flowers I bought Jennifer.
After Jennifer's Root Canal, there was some pretty large swelling. On Monday all that swelling came to a head, literally. Here is some vid of jennifer taking out some of that pus.
